Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford was born in the United States. She is an actress, singer and dancer. Early Broadway performances included Wicked Legally Blonde & Hair. She was awarded the Tony Award for Best Featured actress in a Play to play Essie Carmichael in You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh, Tony Award-winning actress and director has spent most of her professional career working alongside well-known directors and actors on stage and screen. Ashford next will star opposite Kumail in Robert Siegel's exclusive Hulu show Welcome to Chippendales which premieres the 22nd of November. Ashford is currently in production for Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust starring opposite Sarah Paulson and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. The film is part of a Hulu Original and will be streamed on Disney DTC. Ashford, who will appear alongside Josh Groban on Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre during the march 2023 production of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail as director and Jeffrey Seller as producer will form the team of creators for the production. Ashford played Paula Jones, the main actor in Ryan Murphy's upcoming FX show American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on the crisis which swept Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp and other principal actors into the very first impeachment proceeding in America in more than a century. She was also the lead in two seasons of CBS Comedy B Positive. In addition, she appeared on the popular series developed by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, that starred the legendary actresses Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. A veteran of Broadway Ashford was awarded the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her performance as Essie. Some other Broadway credits for Ashford includes Sunday in the Park, in which she starred with George Wicked legally Blonde, and the role of Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots. For this performance, she was awarded an Tony Award nomination. Ashford was raised and born in Denver and currently splits her time between Los Angeles, and New York.
